I want my own website, but I don't know any html!

Don't Panic. Well not yet anyway. There are ways to set up your own website without any knowledge of html.

It does not matter if you want to set up a simple splash page or a large multi page site there are programs available that will allow you to do this without any knowledge of html (hyper text markup language). This is the language used to write web pages and show them on the world wide web (www) or internet. There are programs available that will allow you to just type the information into a browser and it will convert it for you.

All the programs I have come across are wyisiwyg or what you see is what you get, so whatever you type into the program browser is what you will see when the website is uploaded and published on the internet.

The pages used in this presentation are all written with one such program. I will try to show you some of the facilities available by changing the look of each page in some way.

This page was formed by having a page with a black background and I then placed a white table in the middle of that background.

I just typed the text into the table I formed. The height of the table changes automatically as I type in more text. This is as simple as using a text editor and if you are familiar with M/S Word or Corel Wordperfect you will have no problems.

I currently have 3 different page builders that I use, ranging from M/S Frontpage which is quite an expensive program and has all the bells and whistles, through Serif WebPlus ranging from a free version through to the latest version that is about $99, to Nvu which is an open source free program.

I am going to show you all that I did to produce these and other pages, using this free program.
